On May 15, 2008, Mosaic, through an indirect subsidiary, Polar Geomatic Holding Corp. acquired all of the outstanding shares of Polar Geomatic & Security Solutions Inc. ("Polar Geomatic").

Polar Geomatic has been in operation since 2003. Polar LP's clients are pipeline companies to whom it provides access to its web based, proprietary landowner information database ("LOID") system. The LOID system is used by pipeline companies to simplify compliance with stakeholder notification and emergency response planning requirements under applicable legislation.

The LOID system is a custom application developed by Polar Geomatic that maintains a spatially referenced database of stakeholders and emergency response plan contact information required by regulatory bodies. The LOID system provides maps of all of the areas of a company's operation and links the maps with up-to-date landowner information. The system provides users with the ability to conduct searches based on different criteria, track events for regulatory audits and generate maps and line lists for notification or emergency response planning purposes. Combined with geographic information system functionality, the ability to track the changes in stakeholders within a spatial area can be accomplished easily, which simplifies emergency response planning and stakeholder notifications.

In the case of an emergency such as a spill or pipeline breakage, Polar Geomatic administers portions of the emergency response plan. Maintenance of the LOID system requires geomatic mapping, as well as annual contact with stakeholders. Polar LP has a staff of 16 geomatics specialists and administrative staff for data entry and direct stakeholder contact. Polar maintains assets for its clients in western Canada, Ontario and the United States.

The key benefit that Polar Geomatic, through Polar LP provides to its pipeline company subscribers is access to the information that relates to their specific assets so that they can fulfill their emergency response planning requirements cost effectively and with a greater assurance of that, the data is up-to-date and accurate.
